February 24 @ 5:45 pm - 8:00 pm
FPG Bilingüe will hold its annual CARNAVAL February 24, 5:45-8pm! According to wikipedia, “Carnival is a festive season which occurs immediately before Lent; the main events are usually during February. Carnival typically involves a public celebration or parade combining some elements of a circus, mask and public street party. People often dress up or masquerade during the celebrations, which mark an overturning of daily life”. The celebration around the world derives its name from carne-lavare- removing meat in Italian, symbolizing a common practice of not fasting or not eating meat during the religious celebration of Lent. Our school celebration will be a celebration of cultures around the world and will include many of the components of various carnivals around the world. We will have a parade of the continents, games, food, dancing and drumming.
We need a lot of help to make this event successful. We will work primarily through room parents for the parent volunteers needed for this event. The school will work to recruit the teacher/staff volunteers. We hope to use this event as a large fundraiser for our school as well as a means for building community and celebrating culture. The goal is for the event to raise $10,000 through business sponsorships for the parade floats, games, food, a silent auction, and a grade level basket raffle. Please look for an email from your room parent about volunteering. To sign up to contact potential sponsors, go here.
