The PTA needs families and staff to help make FPG Bilingüe an amazing school!

The PTA is looking for volunteers for the 2017-18 school year for the following positions. If you are interested in one of the positions below or have other ideas or questions, please email us or call 919-942-6491 ext. 37112.

Position 2017-18 Volunteers Description and time demand
President Tracy Wesley Oversees all the committees, project and finances of the PTA. Meets monthly with PTA Board members; weekly to co-sign checks. Is available via email and phone to support and answer questions b/w school, vendors, families and volunteers.
Vice President Courtney Toledo Supports President, meets once a month with other Board members.
Treasurer Clarisa Bejar Creates an annual budget, keeps financial books for PTA. Receives and archives bank statements and keeps financial software up-to-date with incoming funds and expenses of the PTA. Answers financial questions, brings new financial decisions to the board for voting, writes checks weekly to reimburse teachers, staff and volunteers for expenses.
Secretary Sara Faccidomo Assists with secretarial duties to the Board, takes minutes at meetings, meets monthly with other Board members, maintains files, forms, and other communication history of the PTA.
Membership Shelley Golden Recruits members at the beginning of the school year and files membership forms.

Carolina Avary plus ONE VOLUNTEER NEEDED

Facilitates communication between PTA events to be sent by the school messaging system to families, acts as a liaison between the Board members, newsletter and the PTA website chairs.
PTA Council Erin Langston Meets monthly with other FPGB PTA Board members and participates at PTA Council meetings.
Audit Alex Cowell Meets monthly with Board members. Audits the FPG PTA finances at the end of the school year.
Grant Writer

Christine Erlien, Julie Siler, & Anne Gordon plus ONE VOLUNTEER NEEDED

Applies and follows up on grants requested by the school or PTA to support new initiatives for the benefit of the school community.
Website Jecenta Obie Creates, maintains and updates the PTA website with calendar of events and relevant PTA information.
Social Events


Help plan and organize PTA social events, such as Movie Night & Magic Show
Teacher Appreciation Allison Britt &
Amy Keenan- Amago
Fundraises and organizes activities to show love and appreciation to our teachers.
Room Parent coordinator Jeannie Denuo Provides support to all room parents and facilitates communication among room parents, school staff, PTA Board members and chair committees.
Flying Lions Heather Ragosta & Emily Nicholson Is the key liaison between the school social worker and parents to provide school families in need support, donations, clothing, food as requested.
Hospitality Virginia Platto &
Kelly Young
Provides support to teachers during requested times/delayed openings in terms of nutritious snacks.
Spirit wear Michelle Hutchinson Takes inventory, manages the order and sales of school merchandise in order to raise funds for the PTA while creating school spirit.
Grocery Store Cards


Sells gift cards to school families and promotes partnerships with different local and online vendors in order to raise funds for the PTA.
Store Savings Cards


Manages store linkage programs, such as the Harris Teeter VIC card program, that serve as fundraising for the PTA.
TABLE – PORCH Sara Faccidomo, Christina Chenet & Jennifer Jackson Nurtures partnerships between the school community and TABLE/PORCH to provide school families-in-need with nutrition assistance.
Cultural Arts Suzanna Thomas &
Miguel Rojas
Works in conjunction with the school teachers and staff to bring cultural events to the school sponsored by the PTA.
Box Tops Donna Cook Manages the box tops program to fundraise year round.
Hispanic Heritage Night


Promotes the event with school families. Organizes volunteers for the event to help with potluck, cultural Latin show, set up and clean up.
Garage Sale


Promotes events among school families to organize and collect donations, price and display of donations, and find volunteers for the sale.
Book Fairs




Promotes the event with school families, works with vendor, finds volunteers.  Option to help at the fall or spring fair.

Promotes and organizes the school-wide read-a-thon.

Book Room Jill Simon & Stacey Yusko Work with librarian and teachers to organize, catalog, and circulate guided reading books.
Day of the Child


Help find and organize volunteers for the Day of the Child.


Helps organize a variety of school and private vendors providing activities for the school children after school once a week.
School Garden

Works in conjunction with our garden Masters Emma Nadeau and Lizzy Szott to facilitate support, help build and promote events to grow our garden with in the families of the school. Year round commitment.

Organizing: Rebecca Reyes plus ONE VOLUNTEER NEEDED
Sponsorships/Fundraising: Tiffany Devereaux & Kelly Marks plus TWO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Works with Dr. Bivins in organizing our major fundraiser of the year. Helps find classroom volunteers across all grades to run classroom games, collect themed donations, build themed raffle baskets, find classroom sponsors, and support float building.
PTA Thrift Store Jen Bishop Liaison between the PTA Thrift Store and the school.
ITST Coordinators Jill Simon & Anne Gordon Insures that international teachers are welcomed and supported when they arrive in Chapel Hill.
PTA/SIT Liaison


Attends both PTA Board and SIT meetings to share communications between the two groups.
